About OTB

At OTB Ministries, we are a Christ-centered community devoted to serving God and uplifting others. Our mission is to guide individuals into a deeper relationship with Jesus, foster spiritual growth, and build a supportive, faith-driven family. Led by passionate elders, including Elder Angel J. Sowell, Elder LaShunda Richardson, and Elder Nina, we strive to transform lives, strengthen families, and impact our community through love, service, and purpose.Our elders are dedicated servants of God who provide spiritual guidance, prayerful leadership, and support to the members of our church. Each elder is committed to living by faith, leading with integrity, and helping others grow in their relationship with Christ. Together, they work to strengthen our community, uphold the church’s mission, and ensure that every member feels seen, supported, and encouraged in their walk with God.

ELDER LASHAUNDA

Sister LaShunda Richardson, originally from Laurel, Mississippi, now resides in Houston, TX. She is a Licensed Vocational Nurse specializing in hospice care and currently works as an Intake Coordinator for a local ambulance service.

Charismatic and faithful, Sister LaShunda is dedicated to serving Christ and the church. She has known the Lord since childhood and uses her life experiences to glorify God. Her roles have included church choir member, church secretary, nursery manager, and mission board representative. She is actively involved in evangelism and community service.

Her greatest joy is her family, cherishing her roles as daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and mother. She has raised two sons and is soon welcoming a daughter-in-law.

Sister LaShunda is devoted to Christ, walking in His light, accepting His call, and trusting in His promises, purpose, and destiny for her life.

ELDER ANGEL

Angel J. Sowell, a native of Arkansas, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child out of fear of hell. She recommitted as a teenager upon discovering the goodness of heaven and God's grace. After years of walking with Jesus, she is still learning His ways and how to fully submit and surrender to Him.

Angel is a loving mother of three and enjoys fashion, shopping, learning new things, and meeting new people. She is an Elder at Out the Box Ministries and has a passion for serving God's people, aspiring for everyone to know Christ and understand the authority, power, and purpose given in Him.

Angel leads a Bible study for those in recovery and facilitates Strong Roots, a women’s Bible group. She is a dedicated ambassador of Jesus Christ, steadfast and always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing her efforts are not in vain. Let's advance and build the Kingdom together.

ELDER NINA

Virginia "Nina" Brooks, a California native, is a mother of six and grandmother of three. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age seven but struggled with her identity due to a conflicting home life of "street living" during the week and "church life" on weekends.

Nina served in various church roles but felt a deeper calling. She experienced condemnation and mistaken identity within the church, which fueled her desire to help others understand the true love of the Father. Joining Out the Box Ministries (OTB) in 2021 transformed her life, revealing her true identity and God's unconditional love.

Nina now serves as Assistant Pastor at OTB, leads a work Bible study, and co-leads the children's Bible study. Her ultimate desire is to fulfill God's purpose for her life, pursuing His heart and accomplishing His will as described in Acts 13:22.
